Porch Portraits
Porch Portraits gave us a creative outlet to capture our living history, and honor loved ones we lost to COVID-19. My sister (who I brought along as my moral support and stylist) and I set out to face grief head on and offer a fun break in the home routine we had to endure in 2020. Families showed up on their porches, whether in fancy dress, in costumes and pajamas ready to share their quarantine worlds with my camera. We offered this portrait session for free, and invited families to donate if they were able, to Purdue University's COVID-19 Research Program. Overall we were able to raise over $4,000, in honor of our Dad, Thomas Popcheff, who was a Purdue graduate also a talented photographer. I will keep this page live forever in this portfolio to show our gratitude for the support we received from these beautiful families and to hold close the memory we are still healing from, where we faced deep heartache and yet still found ways to connect and lift each other up.
- in honor of our loving Dad, lost to COVID-19 on his 69th birthday, April 5th, 2020
